As autumn settles in across Burton upon Trent, many of us feel the subtle weight of the seasonal shift. The days grow shorter, the skies turn grey, and our energy can dip. If you’ve been feeling low, unmotivated, or just a little off—you're not alone. This time of year naturally invites us to slow down, reflect, and restore.
Personally, this autumn has felt harder than usual. My late summer holiday was more soggy than sunny, and I’ve found myself battling that familiar perfectionist voice when things don’t flow easily.
But instead of pushing through, I’ve been returning to the basics of seasonal self-care:
Nourishing meals (with the occasional cardamom bun from the local bakery—pure joy!)
Staying hydrated
Prioritising deep, restful sleep
Switching up my movement routine
Getting bright light first thing in the morning
And finding cosy, soul-soothing rituals to look forward to
These small shifts help regulate the nervous system and gently lift the fog. If you’re feeling the autumn blues, know that rest is not a luxury—it’s essential.
